Thanks for your interest in remote shooting with me :)
Please read through this page to find out more about booking a remote shoot session with me and what it involves!
Below are examples from remote shoots, almost all taken around my own home.

What is Remote Shooting?!

Remote shooting is an AMAZING way for photographers from anywhere in the world to photograph me from my location via the wonders of modern technology! This method allows for professional quality images and for photographers to have control over the settings of the camera. In short: I set up my camera on a tripod, connect it to my laptop with Canon tethered shooting software, invite you to a zoom meeting where I give you access to remotely control my laptop, and then YOU can control MY camera from your computer! We can then use WhatsApp voice call to communicate.

What does the photographer need to have?
A laptop/computer with stable internet connection and Zoom! Zoom is easy and free to download to your computer. (Teamviewer or Anydesk may also be used).
Either Whatsapp or messenger for voice-call, so that we can easily communicate while shooting.
You do not need to actually have the Canon tethered shooting software yourself, as you’ll be working by remotely controlling my software through your computer.

What level of control does this give you over the camera?
EOS utility 3 allows you to choose focus points, focus on an area of the image, and change virtually all the manual settings in one column. You watch the live preview as you shoot and can see the histogram. You can check the preview (not in full resolution) of the last photo you took in a separate window (or I can open up the raw files for us to look at during the shoot).
Here is a Youtube video you can take a look at to get an idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg2U2vxBir8

My personal set up/equipment:
EOS Utility 3:
For tethered shooting (comes free with newer Canon Cameras). If you have a Canon, I recommend having a practice with this software before shooting. If not, the youtube video link above will help. I use this with a USB cable connecting my 6D to my laptop.
DSLR: Canon EOS 6D MkII.
Lenses: Sigma Art 35mm 1.4, Canon 50mm 1.8, Sigma 105mm 1.4, Canon 40mm 2.8, Sigma 12-24mm F4
Lighting: I have great natural window light (soft and moody on cloudy days, great shadow & light play on sunny days) so generally stick to this. My constant ring light can be used for beauty portraits or edgy side and rim lighting.
I have a Godox TT685 speedlight & trigger - I am happy to use this but may need guidance for specific ideas.
I also have an LED Video light with adjustable temperature (and blue/red filters) which is great for fill or adding a bit of colour, reflectors and reflector stands. I love working with interesting shadows.
Dropbox: When the shoot ends, I begin to upload all the RAWs directly into a dropbox folder. This can either be shared to your email, or a link sent to you if you don’t have enough space on your dropbox account, so you can download photos directly to your PC. If you wish to have jpegs instead of RAWs please let me know prior to the shoot.

LOCATIONS:

Generally I shoot from my HOME STUDIO <- Click here for some examples of the spaces available to shoot around my home studio.
I can also bring my set up out to some beautiful locations. Location Shoots incur a higher fee. Here’s a few examples below:

The Port Hills: There are several areas with differing views both of the rolling hills and water below from up in the Port Hills. This has been one of my most reliable locations in terms of internet speed etc but must be planned carefully for weather (wind can get a bit crazy and clouds passing over), but if you’re able to go with the flow this location has so much to offer. It is amazing at sunset or sunrise.

Godley Head: This location offers the unique opportunity to shoot both interesting old military bunker buildings and beautiful nature. At certain times of day can give fabulous shadows and beautiful light at sunrise or sunset. It has been tried and tested for internet speed and works well for tethered shooting.

Brighton Beach / Pine Forest: I’ve put these two locations together as they are very closeby to one another. The internet speeds have been great shooting here but I have only remotely shot in these locations once. At the beach, we can shoot in the dunes with the long grass and we’re able to get the ocean in the background, however going closer to the water isn’t possible at this stage due to losing internet connection.
